Government determined to end discrimination : Minister Baskota

Kavrepalanchowk : Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Gokul Prasad Baskota, has said that forced religious conversion would not be acceptable.

Addressing the Joint Christmas programme organised here today, Minister Baskota said, “Enforced religion conversion will not be acceptable. The State does not subscribe to any religion as Nepal is a secular country.”
He said, “Making anyone change one’s religion forcefully is wrong. Religion is our personal choice. No one should interfere in it and it will not be acceptable.”

Saying no one has right to disrupt country’s unity and mutual harmony, the government spokesperson said, “We have followed religious tolerance. We people from different communities and having different religions stay in the same settlement. We should respect each other’s religion.”

The Communications Minister further said that the state would not leave any stone unturned to take action against those hurting the religious sentiments as the government is determined to end any type of discrimination.
