Women opting to go Gulf via illegal route rescued
Banke, Aug 9 : As many as 16 Nepali women workers, who had illegally opted to go third countries via India, have been rescued from New Delhi of India.
The rescue was made possible with coordinating role of the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi as well as support from the Women Commission of India, Banaras Police and Rescue Foundation, informed Maiti Nepal Nepalgunj Branch Coordinator Keshab Koirala.
A total of 73 Nepali women have been so far rescued and sent to Nepal on the activism of Indian Women Commission.
Koirala shared that the rescue work was successful acting on a tip-off about the illegal departure of Nepali women workers to Gulf countries through Indian routes.
The raid was carried out at hotels in Maidangadhi area of Delhi in course of the rescue operations, he informed.
It was shared that the rescued women belonging to mid-Western region of Nepal have been kept in Nepalgunj while other remaining are being accommodated at nearby shelter of Maiti Nepal.
The rescued women commented that they had opted to go Gulf via alternative route of India as the government did not permit women to fly for Gulf via Nepal.
