Global Adventure Mountaineering Conference and Expo-2018 commences

Kathmandu : The Global Adventure Mountaineering Conference and Expo-2018 has begun here from today with the goal of promoting the adventure tourism in the country.
The House of Rajkarnikar has organised the event in association with Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).

Inaugurating the event, NTB chief executive officer Deepak Raj Joshi expressed the belief that the conference would be useful in the promotion of adventure tourism in Nepal. He said NTB would aggressively carry out international publicity for the promotion and development of the country’s unparalleled tourism destinations.

General Secretary of Nepal Mountaineering Association, Kul Bahadur Gurung and its former president Ang Chhiring Sherpa said the conference would be helpful in promoting mountaineering tourism. Vice-president of the International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation, Ptere Farkas underlined that all should pay attention to protecting the Himalayas from the risk of climate change and disseminating positive messages about adventure tourism.

Managing Director of the event organising institution, Birendra Rajkarnikar said the conference and the expo was organised with the objective of promoting Nepal as the adventure hub of the world. He expressed the confidence that the event would prove to be a milestone to that end.

A total of 42 speakers and 250 guests from home and abroad are taking part in the three-day conference which will witness the presentation of working papers by experts from respective fields, discussing possibilities, challenges and strategies for commercial promotion of adventure tourism.

Around 3,000 people are expected to visit the conference. Adventure sports, tourism and environment are three main issues of special discussions during the conference attended by the delegates from Nepal, India, China, Afghanistan and the United States of America, among others. An exhibition on adventurous tourism is there on the premises of Hotel Yak and Yeti, the conference venue. (RSS)
