13th SAG: Medical centre set up inside Pokhara Stadium
A medical centre with adequate medical officials and medicines and equipment has been set up inside Pokhara Stadium in Kaski district in view of the upcoming 13th South Asian Games (SAG).
Pokhara is one of the venues where 8 of the 26 sports to be played during the 10-day mega event. SAG is being held from December 1 to 10.
The other venues are Kathmandu and Janakpur. The centre is set up within a multipurpose covered hall inside the Stadium where five of 8 games will be held, SAG Health Sub-Committee Coordinator Dr Padam Bahadur Khadka said.
The centre will set up with an objective to provide immediate medical intervention to altogether 840 guests-650 players and 190 officials-from SAARC-member countries including Nepal who will arrive Pokhara for the event, informed Khadka. The medical centre will have a team of paramedics including two medical officers, physiotherapist, nurses as well as assistants.
The centre will be run from 7 am to 7 pm and will be operated in two shifts. Furthermore, a large number of tournament directors, referees, judges, technical assistants, sports lovers and media persons arriving from different countries will also benefit from the Centre in case of medical emergency, according to him.
Moreover, 15 medical officials, 15 physiotherapists and 30 paramedics have been mobilized in other venues where three other games will be held, he added.
