Provincial level self-defense training in Pokhara

Pokhara : In view of the growing cases of Violence against Women (VAW) in the country, a provincial level self-defense training is being imparted to students in Rastriya Secondary School at Tundikhel in Pokhara from Monday.
In the inauguration of the training, Gandaki Province lawmaker Ramji Baral stressed that it was imperative to have a high morale to fight social anomalies and aberrations.
Ward Chairperson of Pokhara Metropolitan City-1 Sharada Kumari Parajuli argued that the self-confidence would be increased with the training. Likewise, Principal of the School, Ved Prasad Wosti, shared that the training was provided to help students develop an ability to protect oneself from attackers.
The three-day training is being conducted in coordination of Empower Women and Children Nepal where Taekwondo player Jivan Khati is teaching various self-defence skills and tactics.
Altogether 50 female students of class 10 are participating in the training. The training would be expanded to other schools in Gandaki province, according to organizer Susmita Basnet.
